Ayurveda Conversations 2025: From Legacy to Revival

Join us for Ayurveda Conversations 2025, a powerful eight-day event dedicated to honouring the timeless science of Ayurveda and the visionary legacy of Shri Krishna Kumar ji. This year, the conversations begin on September 16th, his Punyatithi (death anniversary), and culminate on September 23rd, his birth anniversary and National Ayurveda Day. This journey from "Punarjanma to Punarutthana"—remembrance to rebirth—symbolises our commitment to rekindling, reclaiming, and reviving Ayurveda in its purest, most clinically powerful form.

day 1

day 2

Overview

Ayurveda Conversations has always embraced the classical tradition of Tadvidya Sambhasha—a format that echoes the timeless conversations found in the Samhitas. Just as Agnivesha once questioned Atreya, prompting profound elucidation and systematisation of Ayurvedic wisdom, this event brings together Gurus—teachers, clinicians, academicians, and researchers—and Shishyas—inquisitive students whose curiosity brings forth clarity.
Here, the Shishya is not a passive listener but a vital spark, provoking insight through inquiry, challenging assumptions, and co-creating understanding. The Guru, in turn, responds not with lectures but with lived knowledge, reflective dialogue, and compassionate explanation.
This interactive, inquiry-driven model ensures that every topic is not just taught, but discussed, questioned, and realised, making Ayurveda Conversations a space for true transmission of wisdom rather than mere dissemination of information.
This year, Ayurveda Conversations is devoted entirely to exploring Nidana—the foundational science of understanding disease in Ayurveda. Rooted in the Nidana Panchaka framework, this theme is not only academically rich but also clinically indispensable.

Through in-depth Guru–Shishya Sambhasha, we aim to:
  • Deepen conceptual clarity on Nidana Panchaka.
  • Sharpen understanding of Samprapti and its Ghatakas
  • Bridge classical wisdom with clinical application

Why This Matters

Modern biomedicine adopts a diagnostics-centered model, employing sophisticated tools to label and manage disease. In contrast, Ayurveda offers a holistic framework rooted in the principles of Nidana Panchaka. However, for this model to be clinically effective, a Vaidya must possess sharp insight into:
  1. The Samprapti (pathogenesis)
  2. The Samprapti Ghatakas (components of disease formation)
  3. The stage of disease progression
A lack of clarity in these areas results in diagnostic ambiguity, misaligned chikitsa (treatment), and suboptimal outcomes.

Bridging the Gap

In a world where diagnosis often becomes data-driven, this year’s focus on Nidana brings us back to the Ayurvedic art of seeing, understanding, and interpreting disease as a process, not just a label.
In this interactive space, participants will:
  • Explore the Samprapti of key conditions from classical and contemporary standpoints
  • Analyze the Samprapti Ghatakas and how they influence diagnostic decision-making
  • Understand how Nidana Panchaka plays out in real-life clinical encounters
These conversations aim to reveal the subtle logic behind the art of diagnosis and enhance clinical precision through practical examples and multi-dimensional insights.

Experience & Outcomes

●  Guru Sambhasha: Real-world perspectives that connect theory and clinical reasoning
  • Deep Conceptual Clarity: Students will gain a robust, nuanced understanding of Nidana Panchaka and Samprapti through layered dialogues
  • Immersive Learning: A residential environment that nurtures inquiry, dialogue, and deep connection
  • Confidence in Diagnostic Reasoning: By the end of the event, students will be equipped with sharper clinical judgment
  • Clinical workshops: Group exercises to practise identifying Nidana Panckaka and Samprapti Vighatana on cases to iron out confusions.

Pre-Conference Webinar

Session Overview

The central theme of this edition of Ayurveda conversations is the statement made by Aacaarya Vaagbhata in Ashtamga Hrdayam Nidana Sthanam regarding the evolution of the disease process. The central theme revolves around different questions:-
  • What will the doshas in pathological mode do to the body? – destruction
  • What changed the mode of doshas into a pathological state? - the exposure to
nidaana factors specific to each disease
  • Where did the pathologic doshas create their impact? - Avayava formed by the dhatu,
    herein termed as rogaadhishtaanam
  • How do the pathologic doshas reach the rogadhishtaanam? - through srotaamsi here termed as rasaayani
The conversations can be strategically designed to evolve a take-home content after each session, as well as to generate a set of consensus statements at the end of the programme, which can be published as the consensus statements later.
