Reclaiming Women's Power to Heal the Earth - Mother Maya
Picture
Maya Tiwari- a courageous woman of native wisdom - world-renowned Vedic master and spiritual pioneer - offers a revolutionary solution to restoring wellness, wholeness and harmony in our world through Shakti-Medicine. The principle of Shakti, primordial feminine power, as set forth by the Vedic Rishis offers a revolutionary solution to restoring wellness, wholeness and harmony in our world. To heal and make whole the maternal life force, each and every woman must reclaim the feminine energy necessary to restore health, wholeness, love and joy within.  In doing so, we reclaim our cyclical rhythm with Mother Moon, as ancient women did. Long before modern science learned how to control a woman’s sacred reproductive function and manipulate her intrinsic rhythms, the ancient cultures recognized that a woman’s fertility, abundance and splendor were tied to the movement of the moon, and along with it the vital energy of her Shakti, our maternal life force that sustains nourishment on earth. They knew that her physical body, mind, womb and spirit grew out of the sacred essence of the Divine Feminine. In this workshop you will learn to reclaim your Shakti energy and do sadhana practices in accord with lunar rhythms that support women's wellness, happiness and prosperity.  Maya also teaches women of all ages, background, and culture to heal at the deepest levels of their spirit by transforming disease and despair into health and inner harmony.

Session 1 - Healthy Living- Ayurvedic way
The concept of healthy living has gained a lot of attention recently for  reasons which are very obvious. The changing times rather the modern world has bestowed the man with many advantages. This change unfortunately, has got a darker side too. Many have neglected the conservative life style prompting themselves to become victims of diseases, both physical and mental. Ayurveda, the science of life is aimed at protecting the health and curing the ailments. It advocates daily regimen, seasonal regimen, proper food habits etc. to enable the person to achieve optimum health. It also explains elaborately on behavioral regimen which are of high relevance now. Many a times disease is due to negative stress and the person will have to change his attitude and relax to overcome that. It is noteworthy that the wisdom of ancient sages shows the right pathway to a healthy living. One has to be aware of his condition both physical and mental, and must adopt a right style of living.

Session 2 - Diagnosis  and Treatment in Ayurveda
Ayurvedic concepts of diagnosis and treatment are unique. Health is the normalcy of dosha, dhatu, mala and  agni in the blissful presence of atma, manas and Indriya. Impairment in any one of these can cause disease. The methods of investigations are Pratyaksha( direct observation)Anumana( inference), Aptopadesha( directions given in the text/Teacher) and Yukti( logical reasoning). The examination is two fold namely, examining the Roga ( disease)and examination of the Rogi(patient). Treatment  in Ayurveda is based on the findings of above two examinations.  Administering treatments like shodhana( purification), Shamana( pacification), selection of drugs, formulation, dose, planning the diet and other regimen, adding other components like Daivavyapasraya chikitsa and Satvavajaya chikitsa etc. may vary from person to person and  even may vary in the same person at different stages of the disease .

Session 3 - Panchakarma – Biopurificatory Procedures
Panchakarma presents an unique approach of Ayurveda to purify the body. It includes specially designed five procedures for internal purification namely- Vamana, Virechana, Asthapana  Vasti , Sneha Vasti and Nasya. It eliminates toxins and stagnated waste metabolic products from the body, cleans the macro and micro channels, and maximizes absorption and metabolism of nutrients and drugs. Such purification permits the biological system to return to normalcy, to facilitate the desired  curative effect of medicines administered thereafter.
One need to understand another similar term, Keraliya Panchakarma Treatment  as both these terms are used as synonyms many a times. Keraliya Panchakarma treatments  are largely based on certain traditional practices in Kerala. These  are mostly curative in nature though facilitate bio purification sometimes. These include Pinda sweda( medicated bolus fomentation and massage), Dhara( regulated pouring of medicated liquid)….

Session 4 - Rasayana Chikitsa ( rejuvenation)
The urge to live, the fear of death, the desire for youth, the distaste for old age and the quest for rejuvenation have always interested mankind from antiquity to modern times. Rasayana, the rejuvenation therapy is concerned with the prolongation of life span. Longevity here means not merely to live long but to retain the vigor as well. The aim is to add life to years, not merely years to life. Rasayana is that therapy which bestows the body with the best form of tissues. Benefits of rasayana are mainly two fold- destroying the disease and destroying the old age.  These are achieved by enhancing the immunity.
One needs to follow the guidelines given in texts strictly with regard to the preparatory procedures, method of administration, selection of Rasayana medicine, regimens etc. in order to get maximum benefits
